Office PCs
Why a custom office PC beats a generic prebuilt
3 min read
Most budget prebuilt office PCs cut corners in the same three places: RAM (often stuck at 8GB and not upgradeable), storage (a small, slow drive), and the PSU/cooling (cheapest parts that pass, barely).
For everyday work — multiple browser tabs, video calls, spreadsheets, light multitasking — 16GB of RAM and a proper SSD make a bigger day-to-day difference than most people expect, and cost relatively little to spec correctly from the start.
A custom build also means no unnecessary bundled software slowing down boot times, and parts you can actually upgrade later instead of a sealed, proprietary case.
If your setup mainly needs to be quiet, reliable, and fast to boot rather than powerful for gaming or rendering, that's a very buildable, inexpensive spec — worth getting configured properly rather than picking whatever's on a shelf.
