Upgrades & Repairs

5 signs your PC needs an upgrade (not a full rebuild)

3 min read

1. Long load times but smooth gameplay once loaded — this almost always points to storage. An HDD-to-NVMe SSD swap is one of the highest-impact, lowest-cost upgrades available.

2. Stuttering with lots of background apps open — usually RAM. If you're at 8GB in 2026, that alone explains a lot of slowdown.

3. Low frame rates in newer games specifically, while older games run fine — that's the GPU falling behind, not the whole system.

4. The PC is loud and hot under load — often a cooling or dust problem rather than a hardware failure; sometimes just a good clean and repaste fixes it.

5. It won't boot, or crashes randomly under load — this needs diagnosis rather than guessing, since it can be PSU, RAM, or motherboard related.

A proper diagnosis before spending money is worth it — we can usually tell you which single component is holding a system back rather than recommending a full replacement.
